letting the village raise your child
so, i’m a pretty big believer in the african proverb: “it takes a village to raise a child.” but maybe i took it too literally tonight? (well, ninja thought so)
we walked in to the ever glorious shiny new H-mart to finish up the shopping i started out on earlier that afternoon and to grab some dinner. the food court seating is pretty close together & a very nice couple...

history
this past year has been interesting with many births and deaths.
today, as i was watching the motorcade of senator kennedy on t.v., i was struck by the thought that all these people that i grew up with will now just be part of noa’s history lessons in the future.
not that i am advanced in my years much, but it’s a little strange to think that these are the events - happening in my...

Sawyer's Nickname Generator
Because I love Sawyer and all his nicknames!!!
as close as i will get to american idol...
While we were on vacation, we got to go to the American Idol Experience at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. It officially opens this Saturday, Feb. 14th I believe.
Both the Ninja and I are not American Idol worthy (although, I do love my karaoke time to time) and wished that some of our good friends were there with us. We know (or we would’ve made them) that they would’ve...

happy new year - year of the ox
happy new year!
this is the year of ox! maybe it is time to begin one of my hopeful resolutions… of blogging every day.
what a day...
when i was a little girl, i never imagined this day to ever transpire in my lifetime. even when i dreamed out loud that i would like to be president of the united states one day, so many around me told me not to be silly that someone of color (especially a woman) would ever be elected as president in my lifetime or even maybe in the lifetime of our children.
well, it looks like our world has...

history in the making...
well today is the day. we’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. i wonder how g.w. bush is feeling today?
nevertheless, today’s result will be some sort of history in the making. i feel like we’ve already had some history making in the fact that we’ve had a serious non-white candidate and a woman as a vice presidential candidate. those two things in itself are...

the next big thing
Last night, I went to an Ingrid Michaelson concert at the Paradise Rock Club. I really enjoyed it because of the intimate setting. It was nice to be able to see her up close and to interact with her in a way that you can’t when you’re at a huge stadium or other large venue with several thousands of other fans. We were a little nervous because the show started at 9 pm with David...

Round 2: McCain vs Obama
Debating… sometimes I get very tired of listening to candidates during debates. The clouds of speech they use to bring on the fog when answering a question drives me a little batty.
A few observations and comments while watching the debate:
1) McCain needs to get some new ties - his orange and red striped tie makes it hard to take him seriously - slightly Ronald McDonald. His tie for the...
VP Debates
I am not sure how I am feeling about all the knocks on Palin. As a woman, I sort of feel a little defensive. I have to admit that she didn’t do horribly as I thought she might based on recent interviews and such. I do know that she is a smart and strong woman and can hold her own despite what media says. Geraldine Ferraro said post-debate that most people aren’t going to be voting...
